Gym Motivation

I wish I had a ten bucks for every time I hear someone say they are struggling with motivation to eat better and exercise. Motivation doesn’t fall from the sky. Are you motivated to go to work? Maybe you love your job or maybe it’s just okay or maybe you don’t like it at all, but you still get up when that alarm clock goes off and punch in right? Why? You have motivation, you have bills to pay, and need that paycheck right?

Working out and getting your nutrition on point is the same way. It’s not that it’s always fun (although seeing our improvements is), but we have to look at the payoff, what is our “paycheck” for working out and eating better? Building lean muscle mass, feeling more confident, growing stronger, having more energy. I say all the time in my podcast that motivation is not something that keeps us going, routine and habit are. You have to create our own motivation.

So just how do you create your motivation? First off you realize that some days you won’t feel motivated and that’s okay, you do it anyway. Second you do as much as you can to get your mindset right. Listen to audio books when you’re driving, the library has a great selection and most even have apps to where you can get the audio book directly to your phone. Listen to podcasts watch videos of fitness people you look up to. Watch motivational movies that inspire you.

Just because motivation isn’t always there doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do all you can to continually build yourself up and inspire yourself. You are in charge of getting your mindset right so get after it.
